Newborn Pull-backs

I have had a few newborns over the past three weeks – which is a lot for me.
I started getting newborns last year and have really enjoyed getting to know what makes a NB content and photo-worthy.

Also learning as a photographer – how to pose, how to shoot, how NOT to pose and shoot, how to sooth them, and just love on’em.

I posted last week about Newborn Shoots and tips for other photogs/parents to see.
How to get the baby prepped for the session and things I do.

Here is a closer look at me – and how I work on these precious babes.

Special thanks to sweet PAM who took these images while she hung out with me and helped me a ton!

Would love to hear feedback about these, I included a few ‘after’ shots to show you what I was doing on my end of the camera.

My stuff, really it’s annoying.  Loading and unloading and unpacking and figuring out… geez.

This is when studios come in major handy, one day!;)

I am working in small space in their master bedroom, why?

The light!  Look at it pouring in.

Ah!

Trying to get the girls happy, not an easy task – seeing how I am SCARY and BLOCK the t.v. where DIEGO is on.

My bad! Sorry girls for blockin’ the TV.
Fleece like fabric used as background.

Each of these shots is different and I posted after-shots, after these.

I am just soothing sweet babe and positioning/posing him.

*First and Second image: I am holding his hands tight which at first he will push out, but eventually will stop and relax.

I am pressing in like a swaddle – on feet and hands.

These images were taken last fall, thanks to Michel Bond for snapping these ‘behind the scenes’ images!

I adore this, how cool is my job?

Meggy - I am wondering if you use a flash when inside? What if you go somewhere and they do not have enough natural light – I recently tried to do a shoot inside but there was not enough light and I went to use my external flash, however, daddy wouldnt let me, even when baby was asleep. Have you ever had this issue, what lense do you use in order to let in enough light??
Thanks, this is a great post!May 8, 2011 – 8:54 pm

Sarah Potter - Is that your 24-70 lens in these shots? I think these posts are great for people to realize all the effort that goes on behind the scenes to get the great shots! Nice work. (BYW, I love how fun you are with nail polish!)March 4, 2011 – 9:11 am
