Arden Prucha Photography bio picture
  • HI! I am Arden Prucha Jenkins - a photographer located in Fort Worth, Texas! I specialize in portraiture and more recently weddings! Please take a look around and get to know my work, my style, my life, and me.

How did I get into photography? Well, everyone has their story right? Looking back I realize that the little photog was in me all along, without even knowing it! I picked up a camera when I was around 8 and started snapping photos - I even posed my neighbors, animals, and Barbies for photos (seriously I made a Barbie wedding and photographed the entire thing).

Who am I? Well, I was a teacher for three years, but was able to leave that job to focus on photography and my two beautiful children!  I married a man who I am totally smitten over and he is crazy supportive of me.  I am a bargain shopper with expensive taste.  God allows me to trust this world with less fear and more hope and trust.  Music makes my heart flutter - so thankfully I married a very talented musician. I wish I could carry a tune, but unfortunately I cannot. My favorite month is October (dreamy light) and I miss my convertible - oh the beautiful wind .  When I was little I was amazingly or perhaps annoyingly hyper - and ate more food than all of the boys and was faster than most of them too.  I was a dancer and I love to write and converse.  When I am around people I get more energy and become alive. The differences between women and men intrigue me and kiddos make my heart melt. Photos... well, they fill my heart.

Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you enjoy what you see.

A Homemade Gift (Certificate):

A girl friend was having a baby shower – for her second sweetie pie… a GIRL!

I had contemplated giving her a ‘newborn session’ as a gift.

My thought was WHAT IF she didn’t like my work, what if that was a total flop and made me seem overly confident in myself?

Well, my solution was to have Paul call her husband and we got the A-OKAY!

It was now time to create my gift certificate.

Since I am in the process of re-branding

(and have been since forever now, since i have never even HAD a brand/logo), I don’t have go-to designs to keep all of my stuff in-unison.

Believe me I wish I did, it would make everything so much easier, prettier, and MY STYLE.  I will soon, woohoo!

Anyway, I am a little off topic now.

Paul won a trip through this company and I loved how they displayed their gift certificate.

Basically in a folded – die cut – concoction.

I decided it was time to replicate this guy:

First step was tracing the original shape, but I had to use two pieces of card-stock; since my paper isn’t long enough for the entire length of the original.

I then used the decorative scissors to create a ‘pretty’ edge.

(I created the actual Gift Certificate in Photoshop using: digital papers, pretty fonts, and different brushes for the designs)

I glued the extra side on the back rather than inside, because I thought it looked nice rather than slipping it under and having a seem on the right side of the underside.I then clipped a small piece of paper and folded it into a shape like this and glued (I only used HOT GLUE on this project) the two bases down, then glued the certificate to the top flat part of that piece., allowing my gift certificate to pop off the envelope a bit.

Next step was figuring out how to keep it closed.

The original had a slit cut in the paper to fold the end into.

I wanted to make a cute intial stamp like enclosure.

I used a font and printed it out BIG and then had Paul cut it out, I am NOT a straight cutter – it would be an oblong shapped letter 😉

(below on the left you can see how the certificate doesn’t lay flat, there is some depth to it)
I glued on the envelope shut and then glued the letter on the envelope to ensure it wouldn’t pop open.

Then I used black felt zig zag ribbon and created two very simple loops that I glued the ends together (on the backside) – no bows, just a simple set of lines.Voila, a lovely homemade way to gift my services 🙂

I am NOT a crafty gal, so this was fun and very creative for me.

Karin What a great idea…and I love Erin’s idea as well. 🙂 It’s beautiful, Arden.March 10, 2011 – 8:09 am

Irene K. I love that you nail polish matched the card!March 9, 2011 – 7:22 pm

Tiffani Cisneros This came at such a perfect time! I have to give a gift certificate for a silent auction basket and I think I’ll do one this way! Thank you!March 9, 2011 – 2:06 pm

Erin A. Yep! You might offer both mini sessions and full sessions so you have two price points since everyone’s pocket depth differs! 🙂

Totally awesome and unique gift versus onsies and bottle cleaners etc. LOLMarch 9, 2011 – 1:12 pm

Arden Prucha Oh GREAT idea – the joke was girls were going: I need to have another baby or I need to invite you to my shower 🙂
Looks like I can drum up some business though 🙂
Thanks E!!!March 9, 2011 – 11:49 am

Erin A. Arden, it looks awesome! That a great idea for your gift and maybe a good idea for some folks looking to purchase a unique baby shower gift for a close friend or relative…Hint hint people….it would be the gift that keeps on giving! Arden’s work is…simply put…AMAZING 🙂March 9, 2011 – 11:38 am

Collage of Parx and More

Just some colorful and playful shots of our girl.

She had fun at the Zoo and with Pierson’s decorative scissors!

Can’t beat a lazy-Susan full of bright scissors!

Just look at how busy she is…

shoes on, shoes off, walking this way and that, not an easy ‘model,’ but sure is cute. 🙂

Then the other day we went scouting for a session I had in Downtown AND the Stockyards… so I brought the camera – to photograph my cute family.

We got to this field first and it was COLD – 40s and super windy!  The kids only hung for one photo and Paul didn’t want to be in ANY… so here I am 🙂

All windblown and happy.  The coat is hiding my sweet BUMP!!!

Is this hat just ridiculous?

Just call me:  BELL-HEAD McGEE

I love that Pierson (7 y.o.) is OUR photographer.

LOVE Shack – we LOVE their burgers and LOVE one another.
This face is hilarious! My little Parx and her ‘nigh-nigh!’

She loves it!  Cries when it goes in the washer.

Sweetie Pie.I love this, he is watching his sister.

If you know Pierson these days, he has become very into ‘doing his hair.’

He likes it SLICKED down onto his head, but I had to put an end to it – otherwise I felt a ‘Revenge of the Nerds’ Sequel entering my home!

Here he is getting his hair ‘just right’ for the photos 🙂My handsome young man… he also LOVES to dress ‘like Paul.’

He will come home from school and put on a button up, jeans and boots.

He likes to look sharp!Eating at: Lonesome Dove, Yummmmmy! She wasn’t happy – even with the plethora of food on the table.

Not a fun lunch when your baby won’t quit screaming, crying or trying to escape. 🙂

Heather B Your family is BEAUTIFUL…..it’s not enough to be super talented behind the camera but to be models to boot. WOW! I adore your work! 🙂March 13, 2011 – 3:10 pm

Pam you are sooooo in trouble with your little guy.. oh.my.gosh!!!
Arden, you have such a lovely family!!! And knowing you I know how genuine your smile truly is! I am so glad we’re friends!March 8, 2011 – 9:36 pm

Nevada McNeeley Thanks Arden, I basically wanted what you gave…just as a reference <3March 8, 2011 – 8:04 pm

Sarah Brockway wow – Arden! I LOVE Parx headed down the street with her blankie; Pierson looking down and the sweep of his eyelashes – and Pierson about to kiss Parx. Such sweetness!March 8, 2011 – 7:55 pm

Laurie Arriaga Love! You are awesome and so talented! I need to load up my little ones and head to The Stockyards.March 8, 2011 – 5:18 pm

Shareen when i say I love your work..I LOOOOVE IT..so crisp..colorful..BEAUTIFUL..no matter what your shooting you always make it so lovely..a true talent you are…March 8, 2011 – 5:05 pm

Arden Prucha Well I believe the Stockyards shots are all shot with: 85 1.2 and the others (collages) are shot with 24-70 2.8

The settings are ALL different. Honestly even if I gave you an exact setting you couldn’t duplicate it because our lighting won’t be identical 🙂

My ISO is anywhere from 200-500, depending on the place.
Also some of these images look over-exposed on my computer now – perhaps the resizing for web action or the fact that my kiddos’ skin is glowy white.March 8, 2011 – 4:10 pm

Nevada McNeeley LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!!! Ok now I’m going to be a pest….would love to know what lens you’re using and any chance you can tell me settings??? Do you shoot auto white balance?
Oh and HUGE congrats on your pregnancy!!!!

Newborn Pull-backs

I have had a few newborns over the past three weeks – which is a lot for me.
I started getting newborns last year and have really enjoyed getting to know what makes a NB content and photo-worthy.

Also learning as a photographer – how to pose, how to shoot, how NOT to pose and shoot, how to sooth them, and just love on’em.

I posted last week about Newborn Shoots and tips for other photogs/parents to see.
How to get the baby prepped for the session and things I do.

Here is a closer look at me – and how I work on these precious babes.

Special thanks to sweet PAM who took these images while she hung out with me and helped me a ton!

Would love to hear feedback about these, I included a few ‘after’ shots to show you what I was doing on my end of the camera.

My stuff, really it’s annoying.  Loading and unloading and unpacking and figuring out… geez.

This is when studios come in major handy, one day! 😉

I am working in small space in their master bedroom, why?

The light!  Look at it pouring in.

Ah!

Trying to get the girls happy, not an easy task – seeing how I am SCARY and BLOCK the t.v. where DIEGO is on.

My bad! Sorry girls for blockin’ the TV.
Fleece like fabric used as background.

Each of these shots is different and I posted after-shots, after these.

I am just soothing sweet babe and positioning/posing him.

*First and Second image: I am holding his hands tight which at first he will push out, but eventually will stop and relax.

I am pressing in like a swaddle – on feet and hands.

These images were taken last fall, thanks to Michel Bond for snapping these ‘behind the scenes’ images!

I adore this, how cool is my job?

Meggy I am wondering if you use a flash when inside? What if you go somewhere and they do not have enough natural light – I recently tried to do a shoot inside but there was not enough light and I went to use my external flash, however, daddy wouldnt let me, even when baby was asleep. Have you ever had this issue, what lense do you use in order to let in enough light??
Thanks, this is a great post!May 8, 2011 – 8:54 pm

Michelle Somerville This is awesome! Thanks for sharing 😀 Funny how my ‘load’ is the same as yours. Props take over my car, and storage space (and client’s home, lol)
Would you say your 24-70 is your newborn lens? Mine is the 50 1.4 but anytime I need the zoom and wider angle I love my 24-70.March 4, 2011 – 11:42 am

Hayley Roebuck Great post Arden! I love seeing the behind the scenes pictures of you! You sure do have a way with those newborns and it shows in the finished product 🙂March 4, 2011 – 9:38 am

Pam D Oh my word. The one of the little guy in the ballglove … that boy BETTER play baseball after that! All of the finished photos are incredible, and I love the behind the scenes shots, too. Sweet, sweet babies…March 4, 2011 – 9:13 am

Lynn Love this Arden! I wish I looked as adorable as you when I shoot! I’m trying to figure out a way to lug all my stuff around!! I’ve just been throwing it all in large trash bags (so ghetto) I like the idea of using suitcases!March 4, 2011 – 9:11 am

Sarah Potter Is that your 24-70 lens in these shots? I think these posts are great for people to realize all the effort that goes on behind the scenes to get the great shots! Nice work. (BYW, I love how fun you are with nail polish!)March 4, 2011 – 9:11 am
