Arden Prucha Photography bio picture
  • HI! I am Arden Prucha Jenkins - a photographer located in Fort Worth, Texas! I specialize in portraiture and more recently weddings! Please take a look around and get to know my work, my style, my life, and me.

How did I get into photography? Well, everyone has their story right? Looking back I realize that the little photog was in me all along, without even knowing it! I picked up a camera when I was around 8 and started snapping photos - I even posed my neighbors, animals, and Barbies for photos (seriously I made a Barbie wedding and photographed the entire thing).

Who am I? Well, I was a teacher for three years, but was able to leave that job to focus on photography and my two beautiful children!  I married a man who I am totally smitten over and he is crazy supportive of me.  I am a bargain shopper with expensive taste.  God allows me to trust this world with less fear and more hope and trust.  Music makes my heart flutter - so thankfully I married a very talented musician. I wish I could carry a tune, but unfortunately I cannot. My favorite month is October (dreamy light) and I miss my convertible - oh the beautiful wind .  When I was little I was amazingly or perhaps annoyingly hyper - and ate more food than all of the boys and was faster than most of them too.  I was a dancer and I love to write and converse.  When I am around people I get more energy and become alive. The differences between women and men intrigue me and kiddos make my heart melt. Photos... well, they fill my heart.

Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you enjoy what you see.

Quick Edit

Last night the fam and I went out to shoot a few photos of us.  We TOTALLY had a TRIPOD taking our photos.  I loved it, but after our little family session I said – WE ARE HIRING A PHOTOGRAPHER (get ready Heather Essian)!  Neither one of the boys wanted to take photos, duh!  The first 20 minutes were great, but then Pierson wanted to play, Paul wanted to go home, and Parx wanted to be held.  So this is why you should always HIRE A PHOTOGRAPHER!  Who is going to wine and complain to someone else?

BUT I wanted some pictures with my love.  Now, I have trained Pierson well with my, ridiculously expensive shouldn’t be in the hands of a six year old, camera 🙂

It works like this: I pose Paul, check and adjust the camera settings (MANUAL MODE!), move the spot meter for our faces, and voila.  I then hand the camera over, tell Pierson how to shoot (vertical or horizontal), run over, pose with Paul and BAM!  While Pierson keeps shooting, we adjust, interact, change our bodies for variety, giggle, kiss, and Paul feels awkward. Then I show him this photo and he loves it – feeling awkward doesn’t mean it’s ugly!  Look at how good Pierson did.  Notice the connection with our bods, the hands on one another, the close proximity.  I love this image, it’s so sweet, simple, and intimate.  🙂  My son rocks!

  • In post processing I was able to crop in tight. – which allows you to focus on us.
  • I also cloned out lots of grass, lint, and loose hairs on my back. Um, totally cloned out some bags too 😉 shhhh. (I have awful bags under my eyes)
  • I converted the image to BW, added a gray fill layer on a very low opacity, duplicated the layer and set it on soft light with a med-low opacity, sharpened using unsharp mask, added gaussian blur to soften our skin and overall look, and finally a levels adjustment.

*I will post some of the beautiful images the tripod captured later 🙂

SARA Awesome job little P man! Y’all are to cute!August 27, 2010 – 10:21 am

Nie Nie

Last night Paul and I were hanging out in bed.  I was editing photos and looking at my Google Reader.  I came across a blog GR was recommending to me and I recognized the name ‘Nie Nie.’  I thought HOW in the heck does this blog have 30k!!! followers?  Then it hit me, I know why the name is familiar, I had heard it on the news a couple of years ago.  Stephanie Nielson was an avid blogger, she started it in ’05 blogging about life and her four children and then in ’08 tragedy struck.  Stephanie and her husband went to fly one weekend,  when their plane crashed.  She was in a coma for 3 months and burned over 80% of her body.  Her husband was burned as well, but not as badly as she was.  Paul and I sat there watching this video for the entire 8 minutes.  The reality of things like this awakens my heart… to live each day, love each day, and understand the deep roots of our relations, purpose, and passion.  I admire Stephanie and her husband for standing true to their faith, not giving up, and loving immensely. I am not sure if I would be so successful. She is raw, deeply honest, changed, pained, but is so thankful she is able to spend each day with her husband and children – she is still here; to raise her children well, love them well, and teach them well.  Kudos to The Nielsons.

This video should touch your heart, your mind, and perhaps your soul.

The Nolans

Sweet Lauren, Alexa, and William.  You may remember them from this post!  (Man, when I look back at my old posts I think GROWTH; as far as my work from then to now)  These three are just as adorable and beautiful as can be.  I am sure they would tell you I am WEIRD!  I try to get them to laugh, ‘real’ smile, be serious… which causes great real smiles and laughs, and be closer than they are probably used to.  They are fabulous sports.  At one point I said “Okay, this is going to sound weird, but I have this vision of all of you lying together on the ground.  I want William to lie down and then you girls rest on his chest so I can shoot you from above.  Are y’all okay with that?  Is that weird?” and they all three looked at me, a little confused, and responded with, “We can try it and see.” YES! YES!  What good and cooperative teens they are 🙂  I love those images, so thank you for maybe or maybe not being uncomfy while snuggling with your big bro.  I hope to see you three again soon .

Thank you Alann and William for trusting me with your precious children!Sweet Buddy is their other family member 🙂See how cute it turned out?Love these candids and the simple colors.Alexa:Lauren:William:I had fun with these three – a little more serious, but so pretty and lovely.

William – 2011 » Arden Prucha Photography […] was able to do a Senior Mini-Session within their family session.  He was such a gentleman – which is refreshing to see a good mannered and kind young man.  […]August 31, 2010 – 10:20 am

Client Love

I was happy and grateful today when I was delivered a box full yumminess!  No, not from Paul… from sweet Tristan and Matt as a ‘thank you.’

This delicious delivery and their kind words warmed my heart on this cool (seriously it’s 74 in August) Texas day.  I am so excited to share their session.

Might I add that I only eat strawberries when they are covered in chocolate!

They are my fave and I would take this over a piece of cake, pie, or cookie any day!Thank you Tristan and Matt for you generosity, your creativity, and endless dedication!

Pierson’s First Day of First Grade

I had Pierson when I was only twenty-TWO and through hard times he has been THE major rock in my life.  In fact his name means ‘Rock’ how suiting.  Today he entered the first grade, which is crazy – I mean I am about to have a SEVEN year old.  Six still sounds young, but seven… that’s a real BIG boy.  My son is very strong willed.  He is intelligent and has always become fixated on things; it started when he was a baby – at the moment it’s making as much noise as possible.  Pierson used the word ‘similar’ when he was three years old and is a numbers man.  We think he could be an Engineer someday.  He is a fantastic brother and is my personal runner – which he learned while having a new baby in the house.  He will argue until we are ALL blue in the face and is super independent – I swear he would choose to run this house if he could.  Pierson is very sensitive and is a Mommy’s boy to the max.  I love him dearly and am very proud of his good heart.  He is compassionate, loving, and thoughtful.  I pray that this year will be as great as last for him – he was a super student and was very well behaved.  Look at how cute he is!

*On a side note, we went to eat lunch with him and as Parx and I were leaving, he began to cry (a’hem: ‘Mommy’s Boy’ and Very Sensitive).  I can’t imagine what it’s like to be there watching your mommy and sister head back home to hang out and play.  The school counselor called to reassure me that he was doing well after recess 🙂  I am so blessed to have a relationship with his school! He picked out the bags from Gap… Spiders are COOL!All Pierson wanted to do was hold his sister. 🙂I am one LUCKY Mama! This is when f/2.8 is not your friend 🙁 My bad!My son is getting more handsome by the day. (f/2.8 friend again)Parx is a little excited to be with her BIG brother.

Samantha Workman You made me cry. Such a sweet blog! Pierson is a beautiful soul. He’s growing up so fast. 1st grade does seem MUCH bigger than I expected! Avery has a locker this year!August 25, 2010 – 9:41 pm
