Arden Prucha Photography bio picture
  • HI! I am Arden Prucha Jenkins - a photographer located in Fort Worth, Texas! I specialize in portraiture and more recently weddings! Please take a look around and get to know my work, my style, my life, and me.

How did I get into photography? Well, everyone has their story right? Looking back I realize that the little photog was in me all along, without even knowing it! I picked up a camera when I was around 8 and started snapping photos - I even posed my neighbors, animals, and Barbies for photos (seriously I made a Barbie wedding and photographed the entire thing).

Who am I? Well, I was a teacher for three years, but was able to leave that job to focus on photography and my two beautiful children!  I married a man who I am totally smitten over and he is crazy supportive of me.  I am a bargain shopper with expensive taste.  God allows me to trust this world with less fear and more hope and trust.  Music makes my heart flutter - so thankfully I married a very talented musician. I wish I could carry a tune, but unfortunately I cannot. My favorite month is October (dreamy light) and I miss my convertible - oh the beautiful wind .  When I was little I was amazingly or perhaps annoyingly hyper - and ate more food than all of the boys and was faster than most of them too.  I was a dancer and I love to write and converse.  When I am around people I get more energy and become alive. The differences between women and men intrigue me and kiddos make my heart melt. Photos... well, they fill my heart.

Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you enjoy what you see.

If you have any questions or feedback please share with me: arden@ardenprucha.com

Summer

I am in Texas, it’s hot – very very hot, already.

The low this week during the day is 98, only because of cloud cover.

I skipped out on a lot of weddings in June-September because I didn’t want to be too pregnant to shoot.

I didn’t want to put myself in an ‘uh oh’ position with a bride and groom.

Being safe is better than being sorry, right?

I am not shooting much right now, but have some editing to finish up and some sessions to blog and share.

I don’t want my blog to get slow, however I don’t want to post too much ‘me’ stuff or my this, my that, my kids, my ______ blah blah blah.

This is an interesting transition time for the business.  I am slowing down in my final weeks before being a mother of three.

It is summer which is traditionally slow, plus I am only in my third summer season at ‘Arden Prucha Photography.’

My desire is to write more on here, that would be fulfilling to readers – so my question is:

What would you want to read and see?

I have had some gals on my FB tell me that I should share “my story.”

A story of being a younger single mama, transitioning into real adulthood and turning it all into a passionate life.

Could be too personal, I don’t know?

Anyway would LOVE to hear some thoughts on things to post from my perspective, or others?… editing, projects, Q+A, before/after, locations, how to _____, etc.

So please leave me some ‘shu-ghestions’ in the comment section!

Just wanted to update the blog, update people who read and pop by to view some pretty pictures.

I will post photos, I need to go out and take photos of ‘things, life, landscapes, objects, etc.’ While I don’t have much on the books.

Time to really practice on my eye – viewing things in a different light, a different perspective, take off typical ‘Arden’ eyes and really pull out an artist.’

I am leaving you now with a peek at my beautiful friend Sara who is just three weeks behind me!

Her first, sweet baby boy!  I cannot wait for our kiddos to play together.

Thank you Sara for enduring the heat for me to snap away at your beautiful, glowing, self.

I am so very happy for you and Todd.

May your family be showered with blessings, love and peace!!!

We love to be so serious.

Reminiscing about our days at a Latin Salsa Bar, where we would ‘shoot the deuce.’

Hoping we are still as cute as we once felt, back in the day!My beautiful sister, who took many photos of ME this evening along with the photos of Sara and Me.

I will share the solo ones soon 🙂

I love you Babo!

Jen Benz Ahh! I love these! So mad at Sara for not sending me the link! lol. I LOVE the first pic. She looks like her sassy self. 🙂November 16, 2011 – 8:08 pm

Erin I’d love to see you experiment with abstract shots of people, places, landscapes. You have such a wonderful eye! I want to see the world the way you do!July 1, 2011 – 5:47 pm

Blair Lee I would love a post about your experience as you started photography and what camera you started with and some things like that. Maybe some tips on taking pictures. I know alot of it has to do with your creativity and just having a “natural eye” for things. I would love to learn some tips so I can start taking pictures of my little one. I know having good equipment makes a difference and would like some suggestions from a pro like you on what would be a good camera to invest in. I also know alot of your talent is editing the pictures so maybe for us amatures a few suggestions on a program to use or suggestions on basic editing would be awesome. LOVE YOUR WORK!!!!June 30, 2011 – 9:26 am

Heidi I would love to know how you blur the bottom half of an image in photoshop like in your first image. I love your tutorials and photo tips! 🙂 This is my fave photo blog!June 29, 2011 – 9:17 pm

Life with Kaishon Oh Arden! I know that your story is a special one. All of us could learn from it. Please share. Praying for you as you transition into motherhood of three : ). You can do it!June 29, 2011 – 8:21 pm

Samantha Workman Too personal? Never. Your personal stuff is always my favorite. It consistently brings me to tears. I personally enjoy how “real” you are with your stories; you never glass it over with a ‘happy ending’ when it isn’t part of the story. The “being a mom” stories and blogs help me realize “I’m not alone” which I think so many moms need to hear! I always love your holidays posts and Father’s Day and Mother’s Day and birthday’s and vacations … the more personal you are with your audience the more you draw us in and intrigue us. It’s always great. Continue being YOU!June 29, 2011 – 4:20 pm

Yvonne Sperrin Would love to know more about f-stops and what they all mean! (I need it explained in very simple terms) Also, whats the best lens to use to capture photos that create very blurred backgrounds 🙂June 29, 2011 – 3:10 pm

Carrie First of all – beautiful images – I love pregnant woman!! I have three little ones myself (3 in 4 years!). I could look at your pictures all day!

As for what lil’ old me would like to see on your blog – quite honestly anything. I love getting to know the people behind the lens – and whatever they want to share.

I love to know how people found their passion – what gave them that final push – and that first year(s) of figuring out who you want to be and how to balance. I love seeing SOOC and after’s – and how you got their.

And of course – images of the new bundle of joy. You never fail us – and if it is personal, technical – or just pretty pictures – we will be here to read and soak it in!June 29, 2011 – 2:53 pm

Our Mallon

It was three weeks before I gave birth.

My sister and her husband received a phone call.

Violet’s birth mother, had just given birth to a baby boy.

CPS was taking him away at three days old and wanted to place him in their home, for fostering.

They didn’t even think twice:

YES YES YES, bring him here… bring him to live with his sister, with the man and woman that would already love him and be enamored by his face the moment they saw him.

It was exciting, scary, amazing, joyful, beautiful and perfect.

Three weeks later, I gave birth to Parker.

We had cousins – that we knew would grow up so close and happy, should God allow it.

Oh the prayers started… prayers for BabyM to be a part of our forever family.

You see, the Dad decided to fight for custody.

It was a waiting game.  A question that was unanswered for a year…

After a few months of Mallon’s life, we were all avoiding the thought of him being gone.

It really didn’t seem possible, but it was definitely something that could happen.

I know my sister was terrified, she didn’t want to be… but she was.

She was grasping to that little babe, not knowing whether or not he would be HERS.

It was painful, but lovely all at the same time.  We knew his home was secure, loving and fulfilling his every want and need.

Violet was in love.

This was even harder – for all of us to address and grasp “What if they take him away from her!!!???”

I get tears in my eyes just thinking of that time.  Scared of what the future could hold and the “what ifs,” but we all kept positive.

We sent out prayer requests, we prayed, we loved on him and carried our thoughts in a good light.

God was in control though, not us.

It wasn’t too long that the birth father started getting visitation rights with Baby Mall.

(pronounced like mallard duck)

We couldn’t understand how this man was being granted some rights, but it is how Texas law roles.

They want to give the parents rights, over ANYONE else… unless it’s a very bad situation.

Keep in mind, this is the fourth child birthed from this couple – none of which live with either parent.

However, the state disregards each case prior to the other – so none of those three other kiddos mattered.

What mattered was they have a new baby… I guess the state’s thinking is:

People can change.

Well, as weird as this seems Andy and Nicole (brother in law and sister) began to build a relationship with the birth father.

Andy was great at keeping in touch with him, seeing if there was anything he needed – if he wanted to meet up with them.

In fact, this relationship grew so much that the father would call Nikki and Andy to see both kids together and catch a ride with them.

He trusted them and trusted them enough to show him his home, talk about his life and his past.

This was CRAZY!  I was scared for them, to get too close, too excited, too hopeful… but they had it all under control – in their hearts and head.

They were not being mean, vindictive, or doing it out of manipulation.  They were doing it out of LOVE!

They communicated with him, they told him they would  love to have a relationship with him and their kids – to see him throughout the years.

He flip-flopped back and forth on the ‘custody’ decision – should he?  shouldn’t he?

He was not in a financial situation to take care of a baby.

He didn’t have a car, a job, a wife, or money.

He would truly not be able to provide the life my sister and her husband could.

The father also had a desire to keep the children together – for the other two are separated from the rest.

Why not leave two of your children to grow up happy, together, with love and a healthy future?

Ugh, it was so hard to hear.  What was going to happen!!!???

The day of court came and the last we had heard two days before court was that the Dad was still going to fight for custody.

Which meant:

It was up to the state.  The state would have to decide who to award custody to.

(Remember, I said the State of Texas reallllly loves to place children with their birth parents!)

Then it was weird, birth dad came in and sat next to my family.

He told them that the birth mother was coming and he didn’t want to see her.

He said, “I am going to sign the rights away, then I am going to leave.”

WHAT!?!?  Was this really happening?  Joyful and devestated all at the same time.

We couldn’t imagine the PAIN he was feeling as he signed over his son… to my sister and her husband – who had been raising him since three days old.

Mallon was THEIR son, all three of theirs… through nature and nurture.

The father, must have been torn, saddened, relieved and lost.

I was watching my text messages come in – tearing up as I read the news!

The birth mom came in and tried to fight, tried to yell and say that they forced the dad to sign his rights away, but the judge wound up terminating her rights – which meant she could NEVER fight for that baby – ever!

Even that craziness turned into great news.

So here we are now… at the official adoption.

I cannot imagine how Andy and Nikki felt after the release of SO much built up stress, tension, fear, and hope.

(I missed Violet’s adoption, because I am LAME and had the time wrong – so I was being threatened for this one – understandably.)

The courtroom was packed with adoption cases – a day where many kids would be blessed and granted into loving homes.

Mallon… had the BIGGEST family there, we filled up 1/4 of the courtroom!  It was joyful, surreal, and beautiful.

He was ours… all of ours.  A son, a brother, a grandson, a nephew, a cousin, a neighbor and friend.

He was OUR MALLON.

We are so in love with this little ‘BAM BAM’ and I cannot even tell you how much all of our children love each other.

Parx sits and talks to him while he, mr. boy, ignores and hits or stacks things.

Mallon will put a paci in Parx’ mouth when she is crying.

Mallon adores Pierson and lights up when they play.

Pierson shows him around like a big boy cousin should.

Most importantly:

Violet and Mallon… siblings that will never feel left out or alone – because they will always have each other.

God blessed these two more than they will ever realize.

They giggle, play, hug, kiss, snuggle, run, eat, pray, and love together!

Violet fell in love with her brand new baby brother.

Mallon fell in love with his adoring and nurturing big sister.

They were siblings – biologically and as my sister and brother in law’s children.

Siblings that will grow to know their story and their purpose in life.

These four are a family. Together. Forever. Through thick and thin.

All in love, faith and happiness.

.love.

A little handsome man…
These two are just precious! The two blessings given to Nikki and Andy:Mama and her son!It was time!!!Dada… a proud father, a good father! We all took an oath for sweet Mallon’s well being, happiness, and life.
Hip Hip – HOOOOOOOOORAY!!!!!Judge Sinha was so kind, joyful and gracious!
I think he knew… he was OURS!The entire group – see how loved he is?The team – MALLON’S TEAM.

Advocates, lawyers, parents and supporters for his life!Nikki and Andy, how proud I am of you guys.

Your strength grew.

You were courageous and brave.

You never stopped fighting, loving, praying, hoping.

Your faith was abundant and your gratitude swelled.

I feel so blessed to have witnessed such a miraculous change… one chapter ended, while another one began.

A family was given – to each of you.

A family I am grateful to be part of.

I love you!!!!

Mallon Khan Hi, I stumbled upon this site. I never met another Mallon before! He’s adorable.

Great story. Mallon is a lucky little kid to have a loving family like you!January 3, 2014 – 8:14 am

Nicole T (AKA Nikki) I know this is a little late, Arden, but I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing our family’s story. You have managed to capture some very intimate and joyful moments with your gifted eye. Reading your words brought back so many emotions for me… Andy and I are just so thankful for the blessing that our children are to our family, and that we had an incredibly happy ending to this chapter of our lives. I hope that our story is able to help or encourage others out there that are going on a journey (or plan to go on a journey) similar to ours. My advice to those that are … the power of prayer is incredible and STAY POSITIVE! God is GREAT! Peace and love to all!June 29, 2011 – 6:30 pm

Christina Thank you for sharing this! It is such an inspirational story and had me tearing up the whole time! What a sweet blessing.June 29, 2011 – 2:47 pm

Anna what a beautiful story, told through words and incredible photos.(I was coming by after the post written about you and shared on the studio link up on Friday’s) would you mind if I used your umbrella idea in a series of watercolor paintings I am doing of our adopted daughter? I have started a series of silhouettes and have a list of ideas- her down syndrome features are just so beautiful this way. I just didnt want to paint away without asking first.June 28, 2011 – 4:35 pm

Stephanie I am visiting your site for the first time from Rebekah’s blog … and so delighted to read this beautiful story because we, too, have been blessed by adoption (five times over!) and we, too, understand the precious bond between cousins who have been brought together from different backgrounds and places and knit together as family. God bless!!June 27, 2011 – 9:54 pm

Ali You are very talented at what you do, I just stumbled upon your website and I love your photos. If I lived in the Dallas area I would for sure contact you.June 24, 2011 – 11:22 am

Karin Such a beautiful story! Our oldest son’s birth father also said he would contest the adoption…but when we met him in court for the first time (baby was only 3 days old), he walked into our arms and decided not to contest. God was so faithful. We have kept our relationships with our kids’ birth families and it has been a blessing for all of us. Our oldest is getting married next week…eeek! So blessed to read the story of your sister and her husband–their faith–their love–and God’s blessing on the situation.June 22, 2011 – 9:10 am

linda jenkins Thank you,
Arden for telling this beautiful, tender, miraculous story, especially for Violet and Mallon and for all of us.June 21, 2011 – 9:08 pm

emily Great story!!! I am a friend of Andy’s from high school…reconnected via FB and saw the journey. It captured my attention since I work for an attorney ad litem here in Florida that represents kids in foster care (NOT CASA/ guardian ad litem, but the attorney for the child). What Andy and Nicole did was amazingly unselfish and it is such a blessing that the bio father saw this and did the most unselfish act of all…gave his children the best, even though it was so painful. Foster parents don’t have rights and usually get treated so poorly. Kudos to the Tomme’s for sticking it out, having faith, and wanting to do what was best for the kids…God has certainly blessed you for it!June 21, 2011 – 6:33 pm

Kimmy Thank you so much for sharing Arden! As it turns out, my husband and I are in the position where we may have to adopt as well. Even though it will be worth it, I get so scared thinking of all the waiting, pain, trials, and tears we may have to go through if we do have to adopt in order to have children in our lives. I always appreciate it when people are willing to share their stories so we who are going through the same thing can have ‘someone’ or something to lean on. Tell you family congratulations!
And, as always beautiful pictures – to be honest, since we’re moving to Texas (this week!) and adoption is in the picture, I’ve always wanted the process photographed, and I’ve even thought of emailing you and just asking you to be our photographer for when that day comes 🙂 So, watch out for an email from me in *hopefully* the next five years (max). You’re wonderful, as always!June 21, 2011 – 3:23 pm

Life with Kaishon I am crying and crying.
Too many times I see the opposite thing happen.
The kids go back.
And lives are forever changed.
It hurts to watch.
I am SO thankful for their happy outcome.June 21, 2011 – 2:12 pm

Andy Arden,I can’t tell you how beautiful this post is. Thanks for making me cry at work! Thank you for sharing our story, as it may give hope to others. And thank you for capturing this amazing moment! Love.June 21, 2011 – 12:49 pm

Nicole Long You have me crying. Such a beautiful story.June 21, 2011 – 11:17 am

Amy Oh great – now I’m crying! What an amazing heartfelt story Arden! Beautiful children, beautiful family – your images radiate the love you all must feel for each other. Thank you for sharing!June 21, 2011 – 11:12 am

Dana-from chaos to Grace Oh man….that’s just not nice….NOT NICE AT ALL!! Get me crying after I’ve already done my make up! Now I’m a blubbering mess with mascara running down her face!

I LOVE this post. It’s beautiful!

One of the families I babysit for everyday are foster parents and 2 days after their adoption of their last foster baby, the birth mom was in the hospital giving birth to her baby brother. 🙁 Same thing, same story, except the BF is in prison, and the mom is still fighting. But for right now, I have the 2 siblings every day together and I try to take as many photos of them together as I can…..for the “what if”. For just in case it doesn’t turn out right.

What a beautiful family!! Also reminds me of the day my baby sister became a part of our family! 😀 Man I love adoption stories!June 21, 2011 – 11:02 am

Door.session

When we were in New York City I decided to keep an eye out for unique doors to photograph.

I got the idea from seeing ONE beautiful door – and went with it.

These are doors throughout the SoHo/East/West-Sides.

They range from classic to cool, beautiful, creative, vulgar, artistic, colorful, interesting and fun.

Enjoy these neat passage-ways that are entries to lives… of people I have never met.

.love.

Karin I just did the same thing when I was in Israel last month. 🙂 Totally different types of doors. The ones in NYC have to be the most unique. 🙂June 21, 2011 – 8:25 am

Lewis Family

We have been planning this shoot for a year or more now!

Tod is my old boss from Reata; when I say old – I am not refering to age. 😉

He is a workhorse and has to work most evenings and has definite busy seasons in the industry.

Through busy schedules, hot summers, cold winters, we finally got this thing scheduled.

I was thrilled to photograph his family and love his wife Toby, who I have gotten to know through email this past year.

So, the day FINALLY came and guess what?

Tornado warning, dark clouds, lightening, but they were bound and determnined to make this thing happen.

Luckily it didn’t start raining until I was half way home… thank you thank you Mother Nature!

It was beautiful, though darker than I ever shoot, we had gorgeous filtered light along with deep rich colors.

(if you follow me on FB you know my ISO was never below 640 and most photos were ISO800+, SS 1/100 and lower at times!)

Everyone looks beautiful, they had fun and the boys did a great job with me!

I am so grateful for this family – for hiring me to capture a beautiful time in their lives.

Pretty soon those boys will be young fellas and Jordain will be married off!

Enjoy this fun and beautiful family of five!

.love.

He-ree+Far-ha

My best girl was in town this past weekend.

Which means… quick and fun photo session!

I met Hilaree back in 2001 and we have been fabulous soul-mate friends, ever since.

She went off and moved to NYC, ugh. I guess she wanted to chase her passion and live a true city life – boo! 😉

Well, while there she met Chris… who is originally from OKC (which is I where I was born!).

He is a charmer, just like her.  They are both cool, super good looking, intelligent, funny and beautiful – inside and out.

We were fortunate to see them last week in Their City… a few days later they made a trip here.

Oddly enough his sister lives here in the FORT too!

Let me just say: I LOVE THEM

And I made sure to tell Mr.Farha (with serious eyebrows):

“CONTINUE TO TAKE CARE OF MY GIRL.”

…OR ELSE…

🙂

This is their dear friend Chelsea who traveled with them – she’s super hot too!  Sheesh, darn Yankees. 🙂

MiMi Absolutely exquisite. Arden, you are so very talented and your subjects are so very beautiful.June 16, 2011 – 6:30 pm

Hilaree Love you, baby cakes. They look beautiful! You’re so talented 🙂June 16, 2011 – 11:59 am

Pam D That shoot needs to be in a magazine! Is there a “Hot New Yorkers” mag? This would be cover material! Fabulous, Arden….June 16, 2011 – 11:46 am
