LOVE the one of him in the grass! 🙂Just another edition of I Heart Faces FIX IT FRIDAY tutorial.
Original image (not my photo):
My Edit 1:
My Edit 2:
Open in Adobe Camera Raw:
Make subtle exposure and contrast adjustments:
Open in PS and boos levels:
(I also cloned out some smudges on her face)
A slight sharpen (smart sharpen just barely since the image is so small):
New dark blue fill layer, set on exclusion:
Bring down the opacity quite a bit for a sight color change:
Duplicate the image layer: Ctrl+J
Set on soft light for a bit of a contrast/color boost:
Flatten image:
Then I run my finishing action:
Now I go back to the basic edit and desaturate for another look:
Duplicate layer again Ctrl+J and set on a soft light layer and a higher opacity:New color fill layer in brown:
I chose ‘color’ mode, but after looking through all of the options I liked it best:
Voila, Before… after… and after!
Check out the other edit/tutorials here!

Love your edits and thank you for showing how you did them!October 15, 2010 – 9:21 am
Lovely edits 😀Good day my friends! I was talking with some other photogs on a forum about the difference between a basic edit and fine art editing.
Basic edits adjust the color, contrast, saturation, exposure, and should give the photo a nice crisp and subtle pop.
Fine art edits involve a lot more time and enhance the basic edits. This is when you add different hues – like a vintage look or a
nice colorful pop, you can fix wrinkles, bags, skin blemishes, or adjust their body using the liquify tool.
I also like to do a skin smoothing and sharpening in my fine art edits. These aren’t possible to do on all photos,
unless you want to be at the computer for even more of your life. 🙂
Here is what my edit styles typically look like:
….and another. Notice the red blotch on his cheek? On the fine art edit, voila – it is gone!
Most ‘non – photogs’ don’t know about the whole editing process. It takes a WHILE, which is whoopin this tooshie right now.
Whoop away, I am a super workhorse this time of year. 🙂
When I do fine art editing I take my time, play around with different actions until I get the intended ‘look’ I want to achieve, and make sure it’s nice and pretty and typically like the photos from that session to be uniform.
Using the same BW or color enhancements so that it’s a nice collection of images.
