Arden Prucha Photography bio picture
  • HI! I am Arden Prucha Jenkins - a photographer located in Fort Worth, Texas! I specialize in portraiture and more recently weddings! Please take a look around and get to know my work, my style, my life, and me.

How did I get into photography? Well, everyone has their story right? Looking back I realize that the little photog was in me all along, without even knowing it! I picked up a camera when I was around 8 and started snapping photos - I even posed my neighbors, animals, and Barbies for photos (seriously I made a Barbie wedding and photographed the entire thing).

Who am I? Well, I was a teacher for three years, but was able to leave that job to focus on photography and my two beautiful children!  I married a man who I am totally smitten over and he is crazy supportive of me.  I am a bargain shopper with expensive taste.  God allows me to trust this world with less fear and more hope and trust.  Music makes my heart flutter - so thankfully I married a very talented musician. I wish I could carry a tune, but unfortunately I cannot. My favorite month is October (dreamy light) and I miss my convertible - oh the beautiful wind .  When I was little I was amazingly or perhaps annoyingly hyper - and ate more food than all of the boys and was faster than most of them too.  I was a dancer and I love to write and converse.  When I am around people I get more energy and become alive. The differences between women and men intrigue me and kiddos make my heart melt. Photos... well, they fill my heart.

Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you enjoy what you see.

Alyssa 2010

Alyssa, such a sweet spirit, was so fun to work with.  Her friends Emily and Chelsea came to me last year and she was bound and determined to have me photograph her.  Even if it means spending her own hard earned money… that is the biggest compliment a gal like me can receive!  Alyssa drives a bright red Saturn, has a bright green phone, brought bright colorful clothing, and her personality, well… see the trend?  May your last few months of high school bring you joy, blessings, and love.

Enjoy this soon to be High School Grad… Alyssa!

Love how the colors are dead on.

I have been dying to photograph here for a while… think this wall is killer.

She requested a train yard.  I was a little nervous, but she was cool and calm. 🙂

Oh setting sun, how I love thee.

If you know any colorful seniors or soon to be seniors please refer them to my blog… buttons below will allow you to share easily.

Good luck Alyssa – with life as a College Gal!!!

Rebecca I’ll have two seniors for ya in 8 more years. Lol.February 16, 2010 – 7:18 pm

Ooops it’s snowing again…

Wow I cannot get over the amount of snow Fort Worth has had this winter!  It has already snowed four or five times… not just wimpy snow, but inches of hard core snow!  Once again here are some snow images:

We measured the snow around 4pm… 5″!

I am throwing this image in to show the crazy amount of snow we have received:

Pete has a few neighborhood friends… meet Manny 🙂

Our Neighbor’s snowman… thanks Luke!

Then, Boomer joined in the fun!

I had a couple of friends mention the difficulty photographing in snow and that some images appear gray.  So I decided to share my settings.

ISO: 640 (keep in mind this was at 7:50 a.m.)

SHUTTER: 1/250s

APERTURE: f/2.8

I first opened in Adobe Bridge and bumped up my exposure a tad.

Now for some effects…

Once again opened in Bridge for some basic exposure and white balance adjustments… but this is straight out of the camera.

Then with a little bit of “Pool Party” action by Totally Rad and a bit of a blue colored fill layer set on Exclusion.

I love our home and apparently the snow does too.

Totally Rad Actions

Most photographers have heard of Doug and Chenin Boutwell’s “Totally Rad” site.  They’re photographers that have created action presets to use in Photoshop.  They sell these so other photogs can add great effects to their images as well as speed up work flow when editing.  Well, they have created new actions for Light Room – a photo editing program.  They asked for photographers to submit raw images for their site to use as examples and after doing so they chose one of my photos fort their site!  This is very super cool to me – I cannot imagine how many hits this site gets a day, let alone how many images were submitted.  They are launching the new presets (where my image is) today!  Totally Rad is so generous for giving me a discount on these new actions.  They do fab contests, give helpful tips for photographers, post great interviews, as well as share cool products that they recommend on their blog.   Big shout out to them and a huge THANK YOU!

Special thanks to Regan who you will remember from this post and her mama Teri for helping me capture this fun and beautiful image!

Below is my image with the “Eddie Would Go” action, creating a pop of color and contrast.

The next action is “Great White” and is gorgeous!

I would LOVE to hear from YOU – COMMENT BELOW 🙂

We be back Mon’

We had a lovely work vacation in Jamaica!  Okay so you think stereotyping Jamaicans is crazy.  Yeah right… I am sure they say “Yeah Mon” all of the time and have crazy dreads with those woven hats with Jamaican colors and perhaps smokin’ a dub.  Well, that is totally how it is… obviously not all Jamaicans are Rastas, but quite a few are!  The Rastamen are all around with their dreads either tucked up in their hats or hanging long out of them, smokin’ or sippin’ on something, complete with their chill and creative spirit.  I will share images later, but we really enjoyed the island and wedding.

Paul was my right hand man and helped me out a tremendous amount as my second shooter, equipment runner, go getter for anything I needed, flash holder, bag handler, and mostly just as my rockin’ husband. Here is an image that I could not have achieved without him holding the flash behind the beautiful newlyweds: Mr. and Mrs. Ryan Torres!!!

Going going… gone!

Just a shout out to the soon to be Mr. and Mrs. Ryan Torres… Paul and I are heading out to Jamaica to photograph their intimate tropical wedding!   We will return on Sunday night during the Super Bowl.  I cannot even tell you how upset Paul is over the fact that we are traveling the night of the Saints’ FIRST Super Bowl.  Thank goodness for our DVR!

I am ending this post with some sweet shots of our Little Miss P(arker) whom is already 3 months.  Wow how time flies.  Most of these are black and white for the timeless and classic look.  These towel photos were taken in my bathroom with beautiful light provided by my sky light.  See how Parx’ eyes are nice and bright?

I used my 50mm on 1.4 aperture… notice the lovely half blurred half textured towel.  The ISO set on 500 with shutter speed around 1/100. Learning camera settings is the best thing you can do as a photographer.  I learned most of what I know by second shooting for Heather Essian.  I am not good at reading books, watching tutorials, etc.  Hands on is my learning style and always has been.  I’m still learn something new about my gear everyday.

Now for these photos I had to bump up the ISO to 1000.  The higher the ISO the more grain/noise that will appear in the photo.  The shutter speed was 1/60 which can show some movement or blur, but most of them turned out well.

This image below is my favorite.

Marylie WoW!!!!! These are great! Taking notes :)I’m going to school for this stuff, but you’re right, I’m not a book person either, easier to learn when a live person shows you. Good luck traveling. Be safe!February 3, 2010 – 9:31 am
